PDSSP Successfully organized four workshops for the
development of second year Annual Sector Plan (ASPs) of all
35 District Governments and 34 Programme TMAs in all the
four sectors i.e. Health, Education, Special Education,
Water Supply and Sanitation. The workshop eventually
yielded positive results and the PDSSP was able to
finalize 89 ASPs expeditiously and hence completed an
important Second Tranche Action.

In the last session of this series of workshops, all the DCOs (District
Coordination Officers) of the 35 Districts were invited . A
detailed briefing about the PDSSP's Goals, initiatives,
work plans and funding process was delivered by the
Programme Director to all the DCOs. They were also given
an update about the work done by their respective Districts and TMAs about the development of 2nd year Annual Sector Plans. Secretary
Finance, to the Government of the Punjab, was invited as
Chief Guest. He spoke at length on issues of Good
Governance and service delivery. He reiterated the need
for administering social service delivery with great
commitment and diligence. The workshop was quite
inter-active as the DCOs took keen interest in the
discussion on PDSSP's policy actions and on the 'Way
Forward' as suggested by the PD, PDSSP. The workshop
ended with the participants being shown PDSSP's (well
received) documentary 'Mothers of Punjab'. The
participants acknowledged the need for sensitizing
communities about the maternal mortality issue within
the larger context of the Government's Behavior Change

In its series of workshops, the PDSSP held one for the Education
and Special Education sectors in one day. The EDOs (Community
Development) from the 8 partner Districts were given a
presentation on a selected ASP for the Special Education sector
by the PD, PDSSP. The Secretary Special Education was the Chief
Guest for the session. The EDOs (Education) form the 12 partner
Districts were given a detailed presentation on a selected,
well-developed ASP for the Education sector jointly by the PDs
of the PESRP and the PDSSP. The PD, PESRP was the Chief Guest
for the session.
